Angels and Devils is an American television soap opera that aired for 16 years on the BGC Network from September 21, 1992 to September 19, 2008.
Angels and Devils focuses on the town of Tennyson, New Jersey, about life and death, love and loss, marriage and divorce and later re-marriage of several residents. The series premiered on September 21, 1992 and replaced the canceled 6-year-old soap opera Supportive Women.
On October 16, 1992, Angels and Devils competed against Santa Barbara (still on the NBC airwaves) in a match-up, but Angels and Devils thumped Santa Barbara and advanced to the 1992-1993 season. Then on July 4, 1995, the show also competed against Loving in a match-up, but Angels and Devils thumped Loving and advanced to the 1995-1996 season.
On March 31, 1999, Angels and Devils competed against both Another World and Sunset Beach in a match-up, but the serial thumped both serials and advanced to the 1999-2000 season.
The series marked its 10th anniversary on September 21, 2002.
On April 2, 2008, Angels and Devils competed against All My Children, As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, Guiding Light, One Life to Live, and The Young and the Restless in a match-up, but lost to the eight dramas. A day later, on April 3, 2008, the show competed against All My Secrets, Fraternity Row, Our Screams Can Last, and Passionate Dreams in a match-up, but lost to its four neighbor dramas.
On April 9, 2008, and two days after the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Memphis Tigers, BGC announced along with the Villanova Wildcats (who got defeated by the Kansas Jayhawks on March 28, 2008) that it canceled Angels and Devils after 16 years because of low ratings. The show taped its final scenes on August 24, 2008, and its final episode aired on September 19, 2008.
