Lady Mary Crawley's second husband[]

We first meet Henry Talbot at the Grouse season holiday at Brancaster Castle. He is revealed to be an auto racer, who was a friend of Atticus Aldridge, the husband of Lady Rose Aldridge. During the time at Brancaster, he gets to know Rose's cousin, Lady Mary Crawley.

At first, she is also enamored of him, but after a car accident, in which Mary thought he was killed, but it turned out to be his friend, Charlie Rogers, she would drop him. This would make her even more miserable. This would also make Mary more spiteful.

Due to her misery, she would lash out at Tom Branson, because he invited him back to Downton; she would also lash out at her sister, Lady Edith Pelham, and derail her engagement to Herbert "Bertie" Pelham, by revealing Edith's daughter's parentage. This earned her the wrath of Tom, her aunt, Lady Rosamund Painswick, and even Edith herself.

When her grandmother, Violet Crawley, orders her to make peace with her sister and herself, she does. She sends Henry a telegram and then soon after, they get married. Henry would take to Mary's young son, George Crawley, who would take to him as well. To little George, Henry was his daddy.
