John "Jack" Abbott, Jr. is a fictional character from the long running soap opera, The Young and the Restless. The character is currently being portrayed by veteran soap actor, Peter Bergman.

Casting & Awards

The of Jack Abbott is first written into the series in June 1980, being portrayed by actor, Terry Lester. After Lester abruptly quit in September 1989 due to disagreement with the writing, the producers quickly recasts the role. Peter Bergman first appeared in the role of Jack on November 27, 1989.[2] In 1997, Bergman appeared as Jack on an episode of the popular CBS prime time series, The Nanny entitled, "The Heather Biblow story" where he shared an on-screen kiss with fellow guest star, Pamela Anderson. Bergman also guest starred as Jack on another of the network's hit comedy series', The King of Queens; he appreared in the Season 3 episode, "Inner Tube" along with fellow cast members, Scott Reeves (Ryan McNeil) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman).

Peter Bergman has been nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series 16 times[3] from 1990 to 2002, 2007 to 2008, and most recently again in 2010[3] winning four awards overall in 1991, 1992 and 2002.[3]

Jack Abbott is born on June 29, 1951[1] is in Genoa City to wealthy John Abbott, Sr. and his then wife, Dina. Jack graduated from Harvard in 1973 and then enlisted in the army. He would then serve in Vietnam and after the war, he went to work for his family's cosmetics company, Jabot.
