Lucas "Lucky" Lorenzo Spencer Jr. is a fictional character on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital. He is the son of iconic supercouple, Luke Spencer and Laura Webber. The role was originated in 1993 by Jonathan Jackson.[1]

Casting

On October 29, 1993, Tony Geary and Genie Francis returned to General Hospital as Luke and Laura and ushered in Jonathan Jackson as Lucky. Jackson vacates the role on May 24, 1999.[1] Jacob Young steps into the role on February 25, 2000 and last appears on February 10, 2003.[1] The role was then recast on February 20, 2003 by actor, Greg Vaughan. In September 2009, ABC made the shocking announcement that Vaughan had been let go and Jackson was set to reclaim the role; Vaughan's initial firing was met with much controversy.[3] Vaughan last appears in the role on October 20, 2009 and Jackson reappears as Lucky on October 27, 2009.[4] In November 2011, Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Jackson had chosen not to renew his contract and would vacate the role once again.[5] Throughout 2011, rumors began surfacing that Jackson was going to leave the show once again. Soap Opera Digest confirmed the rumor in November 2011 and Jackson would later speak out.[6] Jackson revealed in an interview with TV Guide that his storylines were taking a heavy emotional tole on his life and when the writers refused to take Lucky in a different direction, Jackson decided to walk.[7]
