Nikolas Mikhail Stavrosovich Cassadine is a fictional character on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital. The role was originated by Tyler Christopher, who played the character from 1996-1999, and then after a four-year hiatus resumed the role in 2003 and is the current actor. Stephen Martines (under the stage name "Coltin Scott") played the role from 1999 to 2003, and Chris Beetem temporarily took over the character in December 2005.
Nikolas is a Russian Prince and the current head of his family's business, Cassadine Industries. He is the son of Stavros Cassadine and Laura Spencer. Nikolas faces a constant struggle to define his own identity within the context of the history of the Cassadine and Spencer families. He and his half brother Lucky Spencer have both been victimized by the matriarch of the family, Helena Cassadine, in a variety of ways, and both have been caught in the crossfire between Lucky's father, Luke Spencer and his personal war with the Cassadines.
Nikolas is originally born in Greece on November 6, 1983. However his birth year is revised several times over the years, to 1981 (July 1996), then to 1980, and most recently to 1977 due to the aging of his younger brother, Lucky.
