Brief Character History
Following the death of his father, Lloyd, Scotty Baldwin arrived in Port Charles at aa young age, alongside his mother, Meg Bentley, and half-sister, Brooke Clinton. After Meg married Lee Baldwin, he became Scotty's father and sole caregiver following Meg's death a few years later. After making the decision to go to law school, Scotty left Port Charles for a time, but returned home at the behest of Gail Adamson following the death of Lee's second wife, Caroline Chandler. Upon his return to Port Charles, Scotty went to work at General Hospital, where he met and fell in love with Laura Webber.
Scotty and Laura were eventually married in a small ceremony, but the marriage ended in divorce only a couple of years later, after Laura fell in love with Luke Spencer. After leaving town once again, in order to nurse his broken heart, Scotty returned home just in time to catch the bouquet at Laura and Luke's wedding. With his romance with Laura having ended, Scotty began a long series of torrid affairs and romances. In 1982, Scotty married Susan Moore in order to gain access to her son, Jason Quartermaine's, trust fund, but left town when Lee fired Scotty for attempting to discredit Luke in his campaign for mayor. Scotty returned once again in order to rescue Bobbie Spencer from a Florida jail. A few years later, Scotty began an affair with Lucy Coe during her marriage to Alan Quartermaine, but after Lucy left town, Scotty began an involvement with Dominque Stanton Taub, who would soon become the love of his life. When Dominique revealed that she had a developed a fatal brain tumor, they renewed their vows in a touching ceremony in front of family and friends. Desperately wanting a child, Scott and Dominique allowed Lucy to become their surrogate mother. Scott delivered the baby girl, Serena, in a cabin, and later rescued her from kidnappers. Scotty eventually took Serena, and fled to Canada.
